I'v got a lot of problems while trying to make working %subj%. Finaly i've found the problem. It's impossible under kernel2.6 due to fair promise-sx4 support. After manualy downgrading to kernel 2.4 everythings looks fine. The question is, how can I properly downgrade from already configured linux, with kernel&headers v.2.6 to 2.4 ?

those support for those cards really sucks dosent it? i ran into about the same problem. you need to mask off the newer (better) kernel and kernel-headers, and portage *should* fix everything itself. (other than possibly having to recompile the system...
here is what your /etc/portage/package.mask should look like [at least]
| Code: | =sys-kernel/linux-headers-2.6*
=sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-2.6*
