I have a 21" CRT flatscreen that rocks. The only thing is that I can't get any framebuffer setting to work on it following instruction currently found in the install guide and on the forums. I would simply like to set the framebuffer console to a resolution of at least 1024x768. Right now when I boot, poor Tux looks squished! The bootsplash tutorials have worked before with my smaller monitor, but nothing I have tried can get it to work here.

i have found it easiest to configure the 2.6 kernel to make this work. i have no idea what you have tried, but here is what my menuconfig looks like: (and all my machines work)
Code:
Device Drivers - - - >
Graphics support - - - >
[*] Support for frame buffer devices
<*>VESA VGA graphics support
     VESA driver typ (vesafb-tng) - - ->
(1024x768@60) VESA default mode
     Console display driver support - - - >
           [*] Video mode selection suport
           <*> Framebuffer Console support

when you re-compile your kernel, be sure to have a backup, JUST IN CASE. I have seen this NOT work on one machine, but this is how i have it on all my other gentoo boxes.

...hope this helps...
