Strange eh ....
Been using "poweroff" for a while - "shutdown -h" wouldn't drop power to the box.
Happening since maybe 2.6.10-ish or so. Plenty of threads, so others have seen it too.
Tonight after my latest sync decided to try again.
Worked.
WTF - no kernel change, nothing obvious ...
Could have been fixed for a while, but I sure didn't notice it. |

And the message is...?
I personally prefer to use poweroff whenever it's available - it describes what I want to do.
Just in case you didn't know, poweroff basically equates to shutdown -h now, with some bits for PM bolted on. _________________ >>> emerge (3 of 7) mcse/70-293 to /

shutdown -h works well for me (2.6.11-r9). But if I try to reboot the power remains on until I push the power button. Using a Toshiba Tecra M2 laptop. |
