My mouse problem is similar to the one a bit before ("/dev/mouse" and "mouse help") because my mouse works in the livecd on. I can only find the "mouse" in /dev which doesnt work with

cat

and where it was on the live cd

/dev/input/mouse0

does not excist.

This is probably because this computer is a laptop but it did work on the livecd

anyway hid is enabled in the kernel but it still didnt work so i tried to genkernel the kernel. It says i dont hav the loop device thingy installed .

If anyone on this planet can help me i would be greatful, and feel free to bag me as much as u like.

Found this link https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-347360.html so dont worry about this for a while....

Hi.

We need more information.

I too had recent mouse issues. I just imaged a Toshiba A75 Laptop (P4,WXGA,wifi, ...), which has a hassle surrounding the touchpad configuration. Fortuantely, I don't care much for the touchpad anyway, and use a Logitech USB laser scroll wheel mouse.

My first effort to configure this mouse failed because I didn't choose the correct options in menuconfig. In desparation I used genkernel to build a kernel that DID support my mouse, and seeing the difference, I completely restarted my image project, this time picking the needed support.

The point here is that you need to know what to include in menuconfig. If you simply want to get up and running, clean slate your imaging, and use the genkernel method of building your kernel.

One last bit of strong advice: even if you use menuconfig, be sure to emege and rc-update coldplug and hotplug. These two programs provide excellent automated hardware configuration.
