My home box is currently down but I thought I would toss in something I was having torubles with before the fall!

I have a 250gb iomega external hdd that isn't wanting to mount. It's NTFS formated however I have native NTFS support r/w I also have USB HID and STORAGE support built into my kernel.

Any recommendations are welcome. I can't really give much more information than that right now, I only got to spend about 30 minutes on the problem before I went to bed and system was toasted while I was at work, wanting to discuss this to take my mind off my downed box =(

Do you have SCSI disk support enabled? (USB drives appear as SCSI devices)

To further diagnose your problem you could run (when your system is working again)

Code:
lsusb -v

To check if your enclosure has been detected. If it has been detected do

Code:
cat /proc/partitions

to see a list of all partitions on your system. There should be a scsi disk listed. SCSI drives are sda, sdb, sdc, etc.

sorry, I should have mentioned that. Yes I have SCSI support enabled, and cat responded that the device was there. However I couldn't mount it even forcing the type.

lsusb showed it connected, I forget how it was listed exactly, I will try cating when I get back up and running. Thanks

What does this give.
Code:
fdisk -l /dev/"device of disk"
