Basically I just finished my first stage3 install. I forgot to set default options on my root partition in my fstab. I can raise nano from the bash shell maintenance optionbut it will not let me write to the drive how do I do that? _________________ Really, I'm not out to destroy Microsoft. You can boot with your live-cd, mount the root partition and edit fstab from there. _________________ Comix - GTK Comic Book Viewer [ http://comix.sourceforge.net ] |

Ok, I am sorry to be so dense about this, but I just tried and it wouldn't write. If you could throw up an example of exactly how to go about that I would really appreciate it. Sorry, I usually don't have to deal with rescues or livecds and I have never tried to mount from a livecd before. I am sure this will be an "oh yeah, dammit I should've thought of that" issue, but I seem to be having a really hard time here. Thank you again. To clarify, if you could provide a code example of how I should mount the root directory from the livecd in rw, I could take care of this and patch a very significant hole in my linux education.

Here are the steps you do:
1) boot your livecd.
2) whichever partition you have as your root partition mount it as /mnt/gentoo
3) enter this command "nano /mnt/gentoo/etc/fstab"
4) save the edited file, do "umount /mnt/gentoo" , and reboot |
