Am i the only one?
No success with the search makes me questioning this:

1. I cannot install all of kde with the packages delivered by cd (Version 2005.0, athlon-xp)

I can do

emerge -k kdebase

but

emerge -k kdemultimedia

for example tries to download the glib-1.2.10. O.K. I can do this with another gentoo on another partition, but shouldn't a stage 3 installation and the package cd run without any online connection? I reinstalled 2005.0 without adding any USE-Flags as recommended at some places here but this didn't help

2. Using kdm as Displaymanager shows no session, only failsafe is chooseable. Changing the entry DISPLAYMAMAGER in /etc/rc.conf from kdm to gdm shows gdm after boot with all possible x-session (gnome and kde)

3. Just another question/ proposal:
Wouldn't it be useful to add the documentations about installing X, KDE and Gnome to the handbook?

1. you would think (did you change the portage snapshot by emerge sync or something?)
If you didnt change portage in anyway I would report that as a bug.

2. May need to manually adust that -- may have something to do with apparant dependencies not matching right on the cd.
In other words this maybe #1's fault.

3. I would think so. Report that as a bug. (especially if disk has those packages those documents should be available, probably alsa, udev would fit also)

With some further try, I found my first problem already posted in the bug list.

Here is what worked with me:

- leaving the portage-snapshot distributed from cd
- downloading a "glib-1.2.10.tar.gz" from somewhere and copying it to the distfiles-directory

makes

emerge -k kde

running without further complains.

Next release, next chance i quess....
