|
|
Hello,
I'm trying to install a Gentoo system on my PowerMac G5 1,8 single processor.
The latest stable CD didn't work and I used the experimental CD found here :
https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=94263
and it worked. I was able to boot.
But after 30 seconds, the fans go to their max speed. I would like to know how I can slow down the fans because it is very loudy...
Thank you very much. |

if that is a new g5 apple probably changed how the fans work yet _again_. then i guess all you can do is to wait until the kernel gets support for the new machines, or patch a kernel yourself. but i dont know if a patch is already available. |

you can try vanilla-sources-2.6.12_rc6 (currently ~ppc64). |

therm_pm72 is included in the kernel of the LiveCD.
Please use the dmesg command, in order to investigate whether fan control is functioning.
My Power Mac G5 2.0GHz Dual (Aug 03) is the following results.
Quote: |
<snip>
PowerMac G5 Thermal control driver 1.2b2
