this kind of message is the last which i can see on the screen while booting if my usb mouse is plugged in.
If the mouse is plugged out everything goes fine, i can plug my mouse after system is up and everything works.
Same thing happens while booting from install liveCD. (I use genkernel so there can be a problem)
I dont have any unusual hardware and this is pentium 4 machine.
Unfortunately i cannot get any logs, it happens too early, on modules loading. Or maybe there is a way to get any logs, but I dont know how yet.
If anybody have suggestions what can be wrong - let me know.
thanx in advance

What is the out put of lscpi?
If you dont see an EHCI controller anywhere in that list, then it should be safe to remove the module from your kernel. _________________ Dont make it idiot proof, make it work.

got 3 OHCI and 1 EHCI usb controllers, and as an act of desperation disabling ehci might work (I dont plan to use any USB 2.0 devices but it can change), as would keeping computer all the time on .
What I will try now is to play a bit with usb kernel options, maybe it will help. |

Hmmm, I recommend you compile the usb drivers staticly in your kernel.
I have found that when I made them modules, I had to restart coldplug to get my mouse to work. _________________ Dont make it idiot proof, make it work.

so, dint help, but now the last message on the screen is:
ehci_hcd ...bla bla.... new USB bus registered, assigned bus number 1
end endless freeeeez
so i think i will just remove this ehci if it is so difficult for kernel to boot with it...
thx beatryder |

hmm, well, depending on the type of contoller you should be able to get full 2.0 speeds with the OHCI drivers _________________ Dont make it idiot proof, make it work.

okay, i found some time and made it. In kernel settings i made ohci as static and ehci as module, no more removing mouse while restarting machine needed.
