This is an issue I have been dealing with for a very long time. I had the issue and left it alone before I moved, but I recently bought a house and re-installed the servers and started from scratch. (It was time)
So I have a brand new setup. I reconfigure the zone files, named.conf, etc. I also re-installed my Windows 2k3 Server (please forgive me) it is a DHCP, Active Directory, Domain Controller, Exchange, and DNS server (DNS server is internal in order to be a domain and have my windows machines log into a network). DNS, if properly configured for each domain works from other sources, i.e. work, my parents. But if I try to browse to that domain inside the network it does not resolve. I have two DNS servers that the DHCP server issues to it's clients, the 192. to the Win2k3 and the Gentoo/Bind Server. I am confident that the zone files are working correctly because they do resolve, but does anyone have any suggestions to what's going on so I might fix this problem? _________________ Ian S. If I understood you correctly you are hosting your own domain from home. I used to have a problem like this before. I solved it by using split DNS, meaning you have one DNS server that resolves names for outside connections and one that resolves for the internal connections.
So for example
webmail.yourdomain.com when queryd from the inside would be 192.168.0.5
and from the outside it could be 194.215.something.something.
Hope it helps. _________________ A bus station is where a bus stops, a train station is where a train stops. On
