Just an update word and now k3b is broken

"Could not find mime type application/octect-stream" is the error I get when launching K3B.

Although it does work as root. I have checked my rc.conf and the XSESSIONS is correct (that seemed to have fixed it for others)

Any ideas?

Thank you

I've got the same problem. I also tried the "XSESSION=kde-3.3.2" in /etc/rc.conf, instead of using "exec startkde" in ~./xinitrc, but the problem is the same. Also for me works with root. This issue I have also with other software, for example kpdf when trying to load files.

I solved the mime problem by upgrading to KDE 3.4: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-2491799-highlight-.html
