|
|
Hello.
This is an odd problem. If I start X (with 'startx') and execute 'glxgears' from TWM, I get the following result (even though the gears looks slow and choppy):
Code: | bash-2.05b$ glxgears
4449 frames in 5.0 seconds = 889.800 FPS
5527 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1105.400 FPS
5546 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1109.200 FPS
|
Yet if I'm running XFCE4 I get the following result from glxgears (even though they look a bit smoother):
Code: | iain@pc1 iain $ glxgears
246 frames in 5.0 seconds = 49.200 FPS
300 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.000 FPS
300 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.000 FPS

I'm not sure what the problem could be here. It's an nVIDIA FX5200, nvidia-kernel and -glx versions 1.0.7664.
And on a side note, I get this error message when starting X:
Code: | _XSERVTransSocketOpenCOTSServer: Unable to open socket for inet6
_XSERVTransOpen: transport open failed for inet6/pc1:1
_XSERVTransMakeAllCOTSServerListeners: failed to open listener for inet6
|
Any ideas what could be causing these problems? Thanks for any input.
