gimp out of sync with my cups printers

I had gimp / gimp-print working before with my now dried-up epson 925.

Now I have added a new canon i965 and have it working with turbo-print and more or less working with guten-print beta4.

Both can produce the test page from cups admin.

However, if I start gimp and try to print it only has my now defunct epson printer not the two new entries.

If I make new printer under the print dlg , I does nothing: I hit print and I dont even get the prorgress bar showing it compose the image.

If I let it print to the epson it goes ahead but if I look at cupds the job is there as completed , ie the output went down the tubes.

Why does gimp not see the two new printers I added under cups html admin?
How do I get it to print now?
