I did 'emerge scim scim-tables scim-chinese'. I'm using xfce4. I have not done any configuring for input method yet (actually haven't got the will power to wade through the doc). So I was happy to see the keyboard icon just show up on the task bar. Okay, I thought, it just work, so unlike linux but great! But when I run the Eclipse IDE, on first launch, it hung at the splash screen. Reboot, run eclipse from command line and watch:

Quote:
dombuck@large dumbuck $ eclipse-3.1
Launching a SCIM daemon with Socket FrontEnd...
Loadin g-d Config module ...
Creating backend ...
Loading socket FrontEnd module ...
Starting SCIM as daemon ...
GTK Panel of SCIM 1.2.2

I observe everything I move the cursor to another pane inside Eclipse, 'GTK Panel of SCIM 1.2.2' is printed. I then switch from focus follow mouse to focus on click. Then seem to make the message print out less often. But seem Eclipse is slower than usual. When exiting Eclipse, that message is printed foreteen times.
