Ciao,
sto installano un altra copia di gentoo, partendo da stage3 (un muletto da esperimeti), ho installato da chroot diversi software gia (kde,ed altr) al riavvio pero non va:
-monta dev usando udev e da quest'errore: can't create lock file /etc/mtab~1054:Read only file system
-continua avviando altri servizi, hot/coldplug poi da quest'altro errore:
Failed to open the device /dev/hda2 (la mia root fs): no such file..etc)
/sbin/rc: line 250 rc_splash command not found

yes kernel copiato pari pari dall'altra gentoo!  (non e mnonolitoco.. jha anche moduli.. ma tanto col fs non centrano un piffero!!  |

Sei sicuro che i parametri che dai al kernel siano corretti? Posta la configurazione del bootloader

hai emerso udev?
hotplug non serve più a nulla (è integrato in udev); coldplug AFAIK idem.
Se udev è installato, a naso azzarderei che ti sei scordato i driver del chipset della scheda madre e/o del chipset IDE, e/o che li hai compilati come moduli. Inutile dire che il chipset di questo nuovo PC è quasi sicuramente diverso da quello precedente.

Ciao!!!
Anche io ho avuto un problema simile con la 2005.0. In sostanza non mi creava i device perche la stage3 (almeno quello che ho scaricato io) non aveva devfsd (sono un tradizionalista e mi piace devfs). Quindi, dopo varie ore di accidenti vari, sono ripartito dal live cd, chroot nella partizione di root e quindi ho emerso devfsd. |

yes udev c'e'.....
No niente problemi di kernel e' stato compilato con il .config dell'altra gentoo... non sono due pc diversi, ma lo stesso con installazioni distinte di gentoo, in quanto questa (seconda che non va!) è compilata genericamente partendo da stage3-x86 |

fatto, infatti non c'era...
Cmq non funziona lo stesso!!!

RC_PARALLEL_STARTUP="no"
RC_DEVFSD_STARTUP="no"
[EDIT]
Unmergi devfsd e ri-emergi udev. Già che sei bagnato, riemergi anche baselayout 
Assicurati di avere i device essenziali come indicato qui.

non DOVREBBE essere sua la colpa; se lo è posta un bug su bugzilla.gentoo.org.

poi lo faccio... infatti nella gentoo attuale e abilitato senza problemi!!
Ah un altra cosa... allora hotplug/coldplug posso non installarli??? fa tutto udev...... li posso togliere anche se uso hal e dbus? |

hotplug di sicuro sì, coldplug non ho ben capito a che serva (infatti penne usb etc. vengono viste anche se sono già connesse al boot, con o senza coldplug).
