This may be really easy to do but I'm not sure. I have looked around but haven't seen too much info on this, has anyone been able to setup Lirc so that a remote is recognized as a joystick? For being able to do things like control stepmania (scroll through songs and whatnot). I've been able to cat /dev/lirc and get output from pushing buttons on a controller but when I try to make a symlink to /dev/input/js1 or something stepmania just crashes not saying anything relevent. (although it does say that it sees a joystick  )
Anyway my quetsion is "Does anyone know how to get a lirc device to be used as a joystick?" lol

Any clues? I have also learned that the remote can be setup as a mouse... now to figure out how to get it from being a mouse to a joystick
