I'm having a hard time with alsa. I'm trying to get OSS emulation but it does not seem to be working (only arts gives sounds). For OSS emeulation, do I have to enable it in the kernel? I think not since emerging alsa compile himself the modules. Just the fact it's not working make me wonder.

You giving not enough information!
What does lsmod say?
Does it show:
snd-pcm-oss
snd-mixer-oss
If not did you try to insert them manually? |

Comipled the kernel with only sound support as a module.
