|
|
Hi, I'm using gnome 2.10, and I'm trying to go in Places->Connect to server.
There I choose for FTP (with login) and fill in the server name (without ftp:// prepended)
and my username. Then I click on connect.
An icon for it appears on my desktop. When I click it, it asks for my password. I put it in,
click on ok, and the same dialog reappears. I try to retype my password, but still no luck,
it just keeps asking for my password.
Is there a way to fix this ? |

I connect to FTP servers in the exact same way. It works perfectly for me. I checked gentoo and gnomes bugzilla and can't find anyone else experiencing this problem.
I hate to say this to someone with your experience but are you using the correct password? Caps lock is off, etc...? I'm using nautilus 2.10.1 _________________ Gentoo: it's like wiping your ass with silk. |

yes, of course
The server is in the form of subdomain.domain.org
Username: user@name (so there's a @ there)
And a password with letters and numbers
It never gives me problems with gftp or konqueror.
I've also already looked on bugzilla and didn't find anything.
After some more searching it seems to work when I put a server in without subdomain and an username
without @. Maybe a bug, can someone who also uses gnome confirm this ?
[edit]
When it asks my password, it replaces the @ with %40 in the window where I can enter my password. This
is maybe the problem ?

Have you tried using "+" or "%" instead of "@" in your username? I use Nautilus in this way to upload things to my shared hosting server quite often and have never had that error as you describe. I'm also using 2.10.1. _________________ ~~ Peter: Programmer, Mathematician, STEM & Free Software Advocate, Enlightened Agent, Transhumanist, Fedora contributor
