I did a stage 2 gentoo install the other day. I am trying to set up a myth box for my living room.
I was following about 8 different web pages as to how to install mythtv. Are any of the guides better than the other? Initially I was using the mythtv.org guide but that seems to be lacking a lot of the hardware setup (ivtv, alsa, etc).
Anyways.. I used genkernel to compile my kernel. When I run an lspci I see a Sound Blaster Live with the emu10k1 chipset. I emerged alsa-utils on my computer and ran alsaconfig. Alsaconfig is not detecting my sound card. Is there a specific module I need to load in order to get it recognized? I'm not 100% sure if it's set up in the kernel already (I'm assuming that it was since I ran genkernel). Is there a way to check to see if it's compiled into the kernel?
Thanks in advance. I am a linux n00b and while this is very exciting, it's also frustrating. I'm learning a ton though. |
