|
|
i'm sure there is somewhere else i could ask..... but if anyone 'll know it'll be you guys!
I'm building a new myth box - planned on a sempron 2600 socket 754.
bought a nice abit motherboard, beautiful! all the cables, all the connectors, but it didn't work with my processor without a bios upgrade. which i obviously couldn't do, so it went back. nice man from novatech talked me into swapping it for a foxtech - "cheap, but ok". but to cut a long story short, i had to buy it from *spit* pcworld.
anyway, problem is it doesn't come with the mounting clip for the heatsink, just a bare zif socket surrounded by 2 holes.
i have the top half as it came with my nice passive heatsink, but no backplate.
guy at pcworld says it comes with the processor - but it think that's crap, i got a big heatsink - but no mounting clips.
so the question is where on earth can i get the backplate for a socket 754 motherboard? nowhere seems to stock them (even ebay!) and everybody says it should have come with someone else's piece of kit.

Go back to the store again, it should've come with the mainboard. I bought and MSI mainboard, socket 754 last year for my AMD64, and it came with the mounting hardware for the fan,. _________________ "They call 'em fingers, but I've never seem them fing. Woah, there they go." |

It might be because it's a cheap board. I've never seen the mounts come with the cpu or fans, only with the boards. I don't work in retail though, so I might be wrong. Have you tried asking them nicely to upgrade the BIOS on the Abit board for you? _________________ "They call 'em fingers, but I've never seem them fing. Woah, there they go." |
