Apollyon, can you post your emerge info? I am using athlon-tbird, so I probably can't help with the binary, but there are some other threads in the forums that discuss about binary installation, some even come with ebuilds.

Yupp, same output as icedank. Will be more than pleased to test other iterations of the ebuild! (My machine has nothing better to do during the day while I'm a the U :P)

**Edit**
chris77 made me realise that I didn't mention that I am attempting to build with sys-devel/gcc-3.4.3.20050110.
I will try with sys-devel/gcc-3.3.5-r1 since I seem to have it installed/slotted[/b]

Geki, I get:

Calculating dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge (1 of 1) app-office/openoffice-1.9-r79 to /
>>> md5 src_uri ;-) STLport-4.6.2.tar.gz

!!! Digest verification Failed:
!!! /usr/portage/distfiles/OOo_1.9.m79_src.tar.gz
!!! Reason: Failed on MD5 verification

when using your overlay... any suggestions?

Download the tar.gz package on your own and copy it over to /usr/portage/distfiles. And try again.

PostPosted: Fri Mar 25, 2005 7:29 pm    Post subject: Can't Compile Due to set_languages Error (solution) Reply with quote

I downloaded the latest from geki.ath.cx and applied the overlay. While compiling I kept getting the following error about the OO.org beta overlay not recognizing my lanugage:
Code:
home portage # emerge openoffice
Calculating dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge (1 of 1) app-office/openoffice-1.9-r79 to /
>>> md5 src_uri ;-) STLport-4.6.2.tar.gz
>>> md5 src_uri ;-) OOo_1.9.m79_src.tar.gz
 * If your language is not on my list of supported ones,
 * check http://l10n.openoffice.org/languages.html
 * report at http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=195406
 *
 * USE="jpeg" is set but OpenOffice.org won't be linked to
 * system's jpeg library because FORCE variable was not set to YES.
 *
 * You would loose some functionality - so better do not set it!
 *
 *
 * Hell, what language? Chosen: en-US
 *

!!! ERROR: app-office/openoffice-1.9-r79 failed.
!!! Function set_languages, Line 181, Exitcode 0
!!! (no error message)
!!! If you need support, post the topmost build error, NOT this status message.

I've since discovered that I didn't have the LINGUAS variable set in /etc/make.conf which caused the ebuild to to set it to the default of English. But the if-clause has an error. It sets OOLINGUAS to en-US rather than en:

Code:

if [ -z "${LINGUAS}" ]; then
   export OOLINGUAS="en-US"
else
   OOLINGUAS=( ${LINGUAS} )
fi

I've updated the if-clause to explain the issue and point the user to the correct explanation since the move to LINGUAS is somewhat new for the OO.org ebuild:

Code:

if [ -z "${LINGUAS}" ]; then
   ewarn
   ewarn "Language not specified setting to en (default)"
   ewarn "Set LINGUAS variable in /etc/make.conf to choose a different language"
   ewarn "See http://gentoo-wiki.com/TIP_Speak_Your_Language#OpenOffice.org"
   ewarn
   export OOLINGUAS="en"
else
   OOLINGUAS=( ${LINGUAS} )
fi

I've also updated the error section to give a similar response:

Code:

* )
   eerror
   eerror "Hell, what language? Chosen: ${OOLINGUAS[0]}"
   eerror
   eerror "Set LINGUAS variable in /etc/make.conf to choose a different language"
   eerror "See http://gentoo-wiki.com/TIP_Speak_Your_Language#OpenOffice.org"
   eerror
   die
   ;;
esac

Everything seems to be working now.

If you don't have a LINGUAS set (like me), it defaults to en-US, which results in ebuild error:

Code:
 * If your language is not on my list of supported ones,
 * check http://l10n.openoffice.org/languages.html
 * report at http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=195406
 *
 * Hell, what language? Chosen: en-US
 *

Change it to "en" :wink:

Code:
    if [ -z "${LINGUAS}" ]; then
        export OOLINGUAS="en-US"
    else
        OOLINGUAS=( ${LINGUAS} )
    fi

shoud be:

Code:
    if [ -z "${LINGUAS}" ]; then
        export OOLINGUAS="en"
    else
        OOLINGUAS=( ${LINGUAS} )
    fi

details of course :D

updated overlay. all patches should apply now.

* epm patch dropped
* OOo should check for >=gcc-3.4 on its own and setting its vars correct ( CVER=341 and unxlngi6 )

*update*

new changes: no myspell dictionaries are built-in OOo, system's xrender headers are used.
new use flags: sndfile & portaudio to use system ones instead of the ones that come with OOo, nosound disables libsndfile and portaudio to be built.

I've got the same java compile error as the post a couple above. I read the solution, and realise i have to patch something, but I cant find how to patch, or what to patch. Really sorry if its written somewhere, as you can see, this is my first post :D

Could someone please point me in the right direction?

If i try to compile with

Code:
[ebuild  N    ] app-office/openoffice-1.9-r87  +crystal-images +cups +curl -debug +gnome -icu -industrial-images +java -jpeg +kde -ldap -nas -neon -nosound +nptl -portaudio -sablot +sndfile +xml2 +zlib 0 kB [1]

I get this error

Code:
g++-v3 -DCVER=C341 -D_USE_NAMESPACE -DGLIBC=2 -DX86 -D_PTHREADS -D_REENTRANT -DNEW_SOLAR -D_USE_NAMESPACE=1 -DSTLPORT_VERSION=400 -DHAVE_GCC_VISIBILITY_FEATURE -D__DMAKE -DUNIX -DCPPU_ENV=gcc3 -DSUPD=680 -DPRODUCT -DNDEBUG -DPRODUCT_FULL -DOSL_DEBUG_LEVEL=0 -DOPTIMIZE -DEXCEPTIONS_OFF -DCUI -DSOLAR_JAVA -DSRC680 -DUSE_BUILTIN_RASTERIZER  -DVCL_DLLIMPLEMENTATION -DHAVE_LIBSN -DUSE_XINERAMA -DSHAREDLIB -D_DLL_  -DMULTITHREAD  -o ../../../unxlngi6.pro/slo/devaudiosound.o /var/tmp/portage/openoffice-1.9-r87/work/OOo_1.9.m87_src/vcl/unx/source/app/devaudiosound.cxx

Must be this, but im gonna try again with -sndfile useflag first.
Code:
vcl/unx/source/app/salimpsound.hxx :
#ifdef SYSTEM_SNDFILE
#include <sndfile.h>
#else
#include <sndfile/sndfile.h>
#endif

got openoffice-1.9-r87 merged. it broke on src_install because ${OUT} is not set although i export it on gcc config part of ebuild. :roll:
do OUT="../unxlngi6.pro" ebuild /usr/local/portage/app-office/openoffice/openoffice-1.9-r87.ebuild install and ebuild /usr/local/portage/app-office/openoffice/openoffice-1.9-r87.ebuild qmerge to finish... replace OUT="../unxlngi6.pro" with OUT="../unxlngi4.pro" if you use <=gcc-3.3 ... i'll update ebuild now.

USE-Flags: -crystal-images +cups +curl -debug -gnome -icu -industrial-images +java +jpeg +kde +ldap -nas -neon -nosound +nptl -portaudio -sablot -sndfile +xml2 +zlib
