My Openoffice does not recognise it's macros

For some strange reason my OOo 1.1.4-r1 does not recognise the standard macros that came with its installation in /opt/OpenOffice.org/share/basic. When trying to access macros I cannot select any of the standard ones.

I have verified that this macro directory is populated with directories(categories) and .xba files amongst others, that qpkg -v -c openoffice is fine and that the above path appears in the Paths section of Tools->Options.

What could be wrong?
