You're probably right. And I share jacek_migacz's problem.
Would you mind giving a hint to where we can configure the soundlevels to be saved during shutdown (and resored during boot ??

A few stepps I suggest:
- Compile your sound drivers as modules
- Install /etc/init.d/asasound (media-sound/alsa-utils)
- Put alsasound into your runlevel
(This way you well get your volumes restored and saved at system boot/shutdown)
Depending on your Desktop environment and the mixer that comes with it you may be able to just tell the mixer to remember the volume settings and restore them at login. (kmix in KDE does it, don't know for the others) |

There are a couple of ways to do this , there's a config line to set or a command to issue. Search the forum there are loads of posts. I cant remember off the top of my head and I aint gonna search if you cant be bothered.

# Do you want to save changes made to your mixer volumes when alsasound
# stops?
# no - Do not save state
# yes - Save state
