| I am about to install on an ultra 30, 512megs ram with an elite 3d framebuffer. Any hard lessons learned that anyone cares to share? Any suggestions? |

| Read the documentation thoroughly, but don't follow it word for word. My installation was relatively painless, and I still consider myself somewhat of a linux newb. |

read both the x86 and sparc installation guides, and use them side by side.
i got most of my answers where I got stuck on irc (irc.freenode.com, #gentoo-sparc). very helpful people, and extremely patient.
once you get the stage downloaded and untar'd...its not too bad. |
