Yeah, I know, it's not Gentoo. I wasn't given a choice in the matter. I'm posting this here because you're more competent than many of the other Linux forums.
What I have is a Dell Inspiron 9300 running SuSE Professional 9.2 w/ kernel 2.6.8. Using the b44 kernel driver and the Broadcom bcm4400 driver I get a device entry that I can configure using YaST and ifconfig. However, in either case the interface can't lease an IP from the DHCP server and gets no connectivity when I configure it with a static IP. Pings to specific IP's return "Destination Host Unreachable" errors. The firewall is turned off.
The ironic thing is that the wireless interface works perfectly. I've tried bringing up the wired interface with the wireless up and down to no avail. I've tried different cables, different rooms.
I've tried booting off a Gentoo LiveCD which got connectivity, so this seems like a SuSE problem to me.
Any ideas? |

Please try to see what driver module Suse is using for your card
and unload that module, find a windows driver for BCM card ... and using ndiswrapper. It should be fine. |
