|
|
My computer locks from time to time, it all seems very random. I've run memtest86 (5 runs) and I've done fsck on my root.
The computer (laptop is built by acer so the PSU should be sufficient. I also tried to recompile the kernel removing everything experimental.
Crashes occur at console, in TWM and KDE.
Anyway, I just noticed, that the computer worked fine until it started emerge. Thinking about it, it is possible that emerge has been running most (all?) of the times when the system has locked.
Is it possible that emerge is the cause of my problem?
And if so, what could I do about it? Can I reemerge emerge itself? |

I also have an Acer (a Travelmate 8100) and had strange lockups (also especially with emerge). I started a threat and the problem is now solved - it was caused by the ICH6 IDE/SATA chipset. Maybe this is your problem. Here is the link: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=358063
Hope this helps. |
