Has anyone been able to create a Gentoo-based DistCC LiveCD? I got a few PC's here (the slowest is a i586 at 100 Mhz) that could use some booting off of the CD and load up a LiveCD enviroment that has gcc/g++ and distcc in it. |

Wouldn't be it better (and simplier) just to install Linux + distcc on those machines? Compilation off the LiveCD wouldn't be that effective as most (looking at a comp you're going to use) of the system resources would be alredy occupied. Don't even mention you wouldn't need to repartition/destroy the existing data. No setting swap would result in Something Bad[tm] if you run out of ram.
Anyway, getting distcc to work from a livecd soun quite, ekhm, nice? |
