|
|
I'm having trouble enabling direct rendering on my Radeon X300 PCI Expres graphics card. I've removed DRM support from the kernel (as per the warning the ati-drivers gave me) and emerged "ati-drivers" which went smoothly. Next I ran "opengl-update ati" which also gave no errors. Unfortunatly, direct rendering still seems to be disabled:
Code: | $ glxinfo | grep direct
Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":0.0".
direct rendering: No
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa GLX Indirect |
The first line about Xlib wasn't there when I first ran the command before trying any of this. Not sure what else to try, thanks a lot for any help! |

Just an update, I've ran fglrxconfig (or something close to that) and the line about Xlib disappeared. Direct rendering is still disabled though. |

You're not alone with your problem...
Try using an older version of ati-drivers, and kernel 2.6.11. The last version which had working DRI on my box was 8.10.19. I added
Code: | >media-video/ati-drivers-8.10.19 |
to my /etc/portage/package.mask, and did an
Code: | emerge =ati-drivers-8.10.19 && opengl-update ati |
This made DRI working again. Not a fix, but a workaround until the problem has been found and corrected. _________________ Debian is available in three different versions: rusty, stale and broken. |
