Hey, after compilation of new Koffice 1.4 I have noticed that the kword stopped working. Every time I try to start it it fails with the "Alarm Clock" being printed to stdout. All other koffice apps are working fine. Here is my emerge --info. Ideas anyone ?

I had the same problem after installing koffice-1.4-rc1.
I recompiled the aspell package. That solved the problem for me.

I also had to reemerge aspell-en to get spell check working after I upgraded aspell itself.

Thank you very much guys. It worked. I would never ever consider any connection with aspell :) Heh, guess I've got a lot to learn yet :)
