Hi,
I recently bought a Sigma 8550 media processor based stand alone divx/xvid player. This processor does not suport qpel and gmc coding. I has already encoded some movies suporting this features. My question is, using mencoder, how do I re-encode the xvid movies without these features keeping the same quality? And changing the bitrate? The manual and wiki tutorial does not seems very clear to me :? .
I know that GSpot (a win apps) can give readely info referring gpel and gmc suport in a xvid file, I search for a application for linux but I didnt find any. I try mplayer -v, avinfo, ... but nothing. Does anyone knows an apps for linux that can extract this kind of info.
Thanks,

avidemux (2.0.40) will give you that info
Load the file and press info.
The packed vop/GMC/Qpel checkbutton will be checked or not.

You might want to read this too for the packed vop stuff, i use it very often for my mediatek based DVD player
