Greetings, I installed phpsysinfo and my eth1 reads lots of errors, you can see it here. If you refresh the screen you can watch the error readout grow. Does anyone know what is wrong.

Yeah... a Realtek NIC.
Good luck with that ;-)

The errors are not.. errors per se, it's just that many NICs handle data transfer badly, and the RTL crap is among the worst.
Donald Becker (the net.god who wrote about half the Ethernet drivers for Linux) comments on it, and notes that the RTL chipsets, while cheap, are among the worst performers for any 10/100mbit card.

Anyway, here is the drivers official page, and as I can see from it, there are a number of potential pitfalls with that: http://www.scyld.com/rtl8139.html

Then again, it may just be broken...

What is the NIC connected to ? A cheap hub ?

The NIC is connected to a Netgear hub.

Well, any hub is worse than the cheapest switch ;-)
What does this tell you ?
Code:
mii-tool -v eth1

If it says full duplex (FD) then you'd get tons of errors, yes.

<Grumble> okay, and what does mii-diag say?
Code:
mii-diag -v eth1

Have you tried swapping the cable to another port on the hub ?
