I've just recently started having major problems with xine - It crashes out when I play DVD's - The initial DVD menu appears, but when I select 'Play', or one of the options on the menu, it crashes with :-
libdvdread: Get key for /VIDEO_TS/VIDEO_TS.VOB at 0x00000124
libdvdread: Elapsed time 0
libdvdread: Get key for /VIDEO_TS/VTS_01_0.VOB at 0x000001a1
libdvdread: Elapsed time 0
libdvdread: Get key for /VIDEO_TS/VTS_01_1.VOB at 0x000100e9
libdvdread: Elapsed time 0
libdvdread: Get key for /VIDEO_TS/VTS_02_0.VOB at 0x0022aa36
libdvdread: Elapsed time 0
libdvdread: Get key for /VIDEO_TS/VTS_02_1.VOB at 0x0022aa83
libdvdread: Elapsed time 0
libdvdread: Found 2 VTS
libdvdread: Elapsed time 0
xiTK received SIGSEGV signal, RIP.
Killed
Software versions =
xine-ui 0.99.3
xine-lib 1.0-r2
libdvdnav 0.1.9
kernel = 2.6.11-gentoo-r7
Processor = Athlon 64 - 3200
Anyone got any ideas / similar problems ?
Ta,
Tigs.

compile xine-lib and xine-ui with debugging info (CFLAGS="-g -p -O0" FEATURES="nostrip" USE="debug"); run xine-ui out of gdb; when the crash occurs, run "bt" in gdb and post output of that with your bug in https://bugs.gentoo.org; it would also be a good idea to compile xine's supporting libraries with debugging info (e.g. libdvdnav). |

Thanks for the quick response,
have compiled everything with debug, and it crashes out within :-
snd_mixer_elem_empty () from /usr/lib/libasound.so.2 - I'll do some further exploration, and post my results / a bug (if necessary)
Thanks,
Tigs. |

What soundcard do you use and what version of alsa? I had the same problems with my Audigy 2 using alsa 1.0.8. After emerging the latest alsa (1.0.9) xine started to co-operate. This also remedied an issue with bmp and xmms. |

Thanks rusty and Big Jim,
I too have an audigy 2 - I update alsa-libs, alsa-driver etc as recommended, and all is behaving perfectly.
Thanks,
Tigs. |
