xcompmgr and movies

I've recently got ahold of a nvidia card and ditched my old ati one, and was quite enjoying xcompmgr -c's shadows, except one problem
movies always get pushed to the top, and have a weird flickering effect if anything is behind them
i've tried the gl modes as well as xv, but, they all have the same problem
