Ok so I am dying to try gentoo out. It looks awesome. However, I can't seem to get past the networking step. I normally connect to the internet wirelessly (a PCI wireless card-prism2.5) but for installing gentoo what I tried to do was share the connection from my laptop to the box. That doesn't work. The box I want to use has an intel based card built into the motherboard. It's a pent4 pc. Im not sure that the module is even loading (I tried eepro). Anyway, ifconfig says that it's up but it doesn't work at all. I can't ping the laptop nor the router nor the internet. I want gentoo so bad but I can't get it!! AAAAHHH!!
Thank you for your time,
soma (you know, brave new world... ha, jk) _________________ ...or el duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing... |

first of all do you have the right cables you need a crossover cable. What you plug into the cable-modem/wall is a "straight" cable computer to computer needs a crossover
then to figure out what modules you need look at /proc/pci it will tell you all kinds of juicy tidbits about your hardware and will help you sort out what drivers you need |
