Hi there

I can't get my Wireless Card running and have no idea what's going wrong. Maybe
you have an idea.

So, let's get started.

My hardware:

It's a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo M 7400 notebook with an Intel Pro Wireless 2100 PCI
Adapter. It is controlled by a software killswitch. I'm also running the actual
gentoo-kernel (2.6.11-r11)

Code:

doomed / # lspci | grep Wireless
0000:02:06.0 Network controller: Intel Corp. PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter (rev 04)

I emerged the driver (net-/wireless/ipw2100-1.1.0) and the firmware
(net-wireless/ipw2100-firmware-1.3). Also i downloaded the fsam7400 module from
http://zwobbl.homelinux.net/pub/ , compiled and installed it to take care of the
killswitch. All requiered crypographic algorithm are compiled into the kernel.

so, I load the fsam7400 module and deactivate the killswitch. The fsam7400 loads
automatically the ipw2100 module and its dependencies.

Code:

doomed / # modprobe fsam7400

doomed / # echo 1 > /proc/driver/wireless/radio
doomed / # cat /proc/driver/wireless/radio

It looks like the Driver is loaded successfully and the radio is running. At
least the fsam7400 and the ipw2100 tells me that the killswitch is off.

Now i assign an ESSID and a key for the WEP encryption with iwconfig and an
ip-Adress to the card. Finally i bring it up.

Code:

doomed / # iwlist scan

After assigning an essid and a key to the device, it appears with the MAC-Adress
with the status Associated on the Station List on my Acces Point. The "invalid
Misc" stats are increasing. After a ping on my router, which says "Destination
Host Unreachable" the ifconfig output changes:

Code:

doomed / # ifconfig eth1
eth1      Protokoll:Ethernet  Hardware Adresse 00:04:23:75:AE:79
          inet Adresse:83.64.107.5  Bcast:83.64.107.7  Maske:255.255.255.248

          Interrupt:10 Basisadresse:0x8000 Speicher:e0203000-e0203fff

so, the card is running, (recieving and sending). It is associated with my AP.
If i turn off WEP encryption on card and AP, the same thing. Associated, but no
connection.

hope somone can help me

You've probably tried this but I will just throw it out there incase you haven't.

Code:

iwconfig eth1 key <wep key>
iwconfig eth1 essid <ssid>
iwconfig eth1 key <wep key>  # I have to issue this command twice for mine to work.
dhcpcd eth1

This works for me. Sorry if I'm way off the mark here.
