Hi gentoo users.
I just tried to encrypt my file system and was stupid enough not to think, just followed the guide blindly *bounces head to wall* I unmounted the target partition and made an encrypted fs with mkfs.ext3 without thinking that it would format the part with all the files. At least i think thats what i did cause i formated the mapped encrypted device.
Right now I have a new clean encrypted fs. What I want is my old fs back with all my files on. Im messing with gpart atm, but i dunno if that will give any luck. |

Restore your backup. If you don't have a backup, the files were not important.
That said, I don't think there is much chance of getting your files back. But if you want to try your luck anyway, you should first create an image of the partition using 'dd' and then run your experiments on that image. If you're really really lucky, fsck.ext3 might still find a backup block of the original filesystem in it... |
