Well, I've been trying to figure this one out and it's baffled me, so time to bring in the cavalry.
I've got a T-Bird 950 w/ 768 Megs of ram and a USB Wireless Adapter made by Microsoft. I've had the device working previously in a Gentoo setup using linux-wlan-ng and it was working fine before. Now, whenever I boot up or try
Code: |
# /etc/init.d/wlan start
|
I get this:
Code: |
Starting WLAN Devices: Failed to enable this device, resultcode=implementation_failure
wlanctl-ng: No such device
Scan failed (implementation failure)
network not found maybe start IBSS?
|
Now if I unload prism2_usb and p80211 and unplug the device, then plug it back in and reload the drivers and THEN try to start the device, I get this:
Code: |
Starting WLAN Devices:Failed to open network config file /etc/conf.d/wlancfg-TOWER:00:50:f2:77:d4:1a, using default.
message=dot11req_mibset

and then the card starts and I can use the network/internet. I never used to have any output from the startup script, but now I do. The only config change that I made from the last Gentoo setup I had was that I enabled 128-bit WEP in my router. I'm glad I can get it working, but it is rather annoying to have to unplug the thing everytime I reboot.
So the question: Any ideas on what might be causing this? _________________ Sometimes nothin' is a pretty cool hand.

If you have hotplugging enabled then you should probably look in /etc/hotplug for a file that might be run when the device is plugged in other than wlan. _________________ open like a child's mind. |

Well I got the thing to work at boot by adding "prism2_doreset 1" as an option in /etc/modules.autoload. It still puts out all that output though. Is there any way to get rid of that stuff? _________________ Sometimes nothin' is a pretty cool hand.
