Hi,
I have a samba 3 configured as PDC with smbldap-tools and of course an OpenLdap.
Everything seems to work correctly, by adding manually the users ( on win 2000 clients), using the smbldap_tools.
Is there a way to manage samba (and unix) users via a win2000 client ?
I am looking for a graphical interface as active directory, for managing users, groups, accounts quotas and policies from a client ...
thanks for helping me. |

You can use the NT 4 usermgr tool not sure how much you can do with in terms of quotas etc. but you can create users and change passwords |

Well, thanks
I have already tested usrmgr, and it works greatly. I am also using poledit as policies editor (with few adm as security strategies) and also a java applet called LdapBrowser, to navigate into the Ldap tree.
But I am looking for an administration tool like the one used by the SambaEdu 3 distribution. This one is a compilation of samba, ldap administration tools.
thanks for reply if u have some ideas. |

for me usrmgr.exe doesn't work... it says
the stub received bad data
and i've to connect in low speed
then if i do
add user
returns another error that i can't translate (something about a device disconnected!)
i think that microsoft use a library called LibRandomError
however, can you post a working configuration (smb.conf + slapd.conf) which make usrmgr work??? it's about a week that i'd like to use it, but doesn't work... |
