I'm running kernel 2.6.11 on my machine. I'd like to try a test 2.6.11 kernel so I can use a tweaked config or try some patches, but I'm afraid it'll overwrite the existing modules I have in /lib/modules/. If I rename the test kernel tree to something like /usr/src/linux-2.6.11-test will that automatically generate /lib/modules/2.6.11-test ? |

Under General Setup in menuconfig there is an option to append a local version to the kernel and modules. |
