My kids deleted just about every recording on my myth box.
The status still shows a lot of disk space used.
Is there a way to recover these deleted recordings?
Thanks in advance. |

Do you mean deleted the actual nuv/mpg files or deleted them from the mythfrontend/mythweb?
If somehow just the mysql entries that mythtv lists are missing, you can manually insert them back into the database... which isn't hard, once you figure out what the file name means. It's also not a complete recovery(Info missing like title, etc...). The best thing IMO is to have a cron job to backup the db every day or few hours (or hour =). But this last case may not be your problem. If your kids nuked the actual files, well, pull out the big belt, but remember, it hurts you more than it hurts them. _________________ www.bearscanfly.org - Because hiking is cool |

Turns out it wasn't my kids...it was me.
I had tried the autocommercial skipping transcoding, and that seemed to get stuck in some sort of loop, eating up all the disk space and auto-expiring just about every recording.
Good thing the kids were sleeping when I first thought they did it...they never actually got blamed. |
