What are the results that you get? Does it try to play at all? Black box where video should be? Have you set anything in /etc/mplayerplug-in.conf? Will mplayer play video files locally?

I get nothing, other than a box in the webpages with the text saying that there is no plugin. mplayerplug-in installed itselve into the mozilla/netscape folders correctly, so I see it out there, but for some reason, it just doesnt want to work.

Does it show up in about:plugins?

Aside from that, a lot of websites embed videos into a page so that they'll only work with a specific plugin, or so that they'll only work in Internet Explorer (like most embedded Windows Media).

I'm having similar problem, and that is coming from a setup where it worked perfectly fine before, some emerge weeks ago made it blow up and now Firefox can't even find the plugin (it's not in about:plugins), just get the "Click here to download plugin" window where I usually get a beautiful mplayer window playing the video.

Any tips?

I suppose I'd try to manually install it. I've had better luck with it like that before.
