should only update packages that have been installed and not the whole system catergory (for those of us that have removed unneed 'base' packages). ![Shocked 8O](images/smiles/icon_eek.gif) _________________ Searched the web for zerogeny.

Uh... how do you know the packages weren't needed?
Multiple packages can control the same files. You remove one, the other may stop working. (This is how I hosed my first Gentoo install. )
Actually, this behavior is similar to one I requested:

I expect the developers response and reasoning are the same. |
