As you may guess no sound atm
when I try to start /etc/init.d/alsasound start it says that it is unable to found any alsa drivers, but I compiled the kernel with genkernel which specifically said alsa would be compiled with it. |

DetectiveInspekta,
Alsa is lots of modules, about 10 - and it needs its settings file at /etc/modules.d/alsa to be right too.
Since you used genkernel, you will have modular sound, which makes debug easy. Look in lsmod for modules with names beginning snd- They belong to ALSA.
Look in /dev/snd and /dev/sound the files there are the sound device files.
Did you do all the other things described in http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/alsa-guide.xml
The kernel needs to be right for ALSA to work but its not enough on its own. _________________ Regards,
