Hi, i just compiled 2.6.12-r3 kernel, i updated grub.conf with
Code: |
title=Gentoo 2.6.12-r3
root (hd0,0)
kernel /linux-2.6.12-gentoo-r3 root=/dev/hda3
|
When i reboot and choose this kernel it starts booting and then just stops. the last line is something like : PID hash table entries: .... |

hi,
hmmm, thats quite early in the boot process... could you post your hw-specs as well as the kernel config?
cheers, r. _________________ Zwei Was Eins Initially

.config
my other kernel, that i'm using now was generated with genkernel and it works fine. |

well, i absolutely have no idea what's wrong and how to fix it. i've tried all kinds of different configs with no luck. none of 2.6.12-gentoo-r3 kernels i configured worked, all freezing very soon in the boot proccess. finally today i tried genkernel, i tried with and without initrd in grub.conf, no luck. if genkernel failed the i guess it must be the sources. i'll emerge other sources, maybe 2.6.12-gentoo-r2, and see if they work. |
