HI !
I got 2 consoles opened , in one of whitch runs "mc" ; my PC runs ok ; but when I try to copy files in from network , or a burn cd.... I could not do absolutly nothing on second console , or on whole my PC , because that naughty process capure all my PC power... and until I do not finish copying ( or cd burning... ) my PC is useless.... it is almost stuck , even for a simple
ls -lsa
it take about 3-4 seconds till it show some output....
Any suggestions ?
It is totally disturbing....
Please help.
Thanks in advance . |

Try to "renice" the process (lower its priority). Open a terminal, type "top". All the processes are listed on the far left, and their niceness is listed in the third column from the left. Find your offending process, hit "R", type in the PID of the offending process, and then give a number to set as the niceness (-20 is highest prio, 19 is lowest). I think a niceness of 10 would be fine. |
