Can't get waimea to run.

I tried to emerge waimea and have added a waimea session entry to KDM, but when I select waimea and log in nothing happens. ps -ax | grep waimea tells me that waimea is in fact running but nothing appears on the screen. I have tried following the instructions on the waimea site regarding the creation of of user configuration files to no avail. Anyone have any ideas?

Some more info. KDM writes the following info to my ~/.xsession-errors

Found the problem; emerging eterm helped The waimea ebuild really should be updated to have this dependancy.
