Difatti fino alla 2.0.2 ha funzionato (o perlomeno si avviava, la 2.0.2 mi dava un'eccessiva occupazione del disco, la 2.0.1 funzionava bene. Che faccio downgrade ?

forse perchè hai ancora installato wxGTK-2.4.2, magari prova a disinstallare questa versione e riemergere amule

Ora funziona perfettamente, non credevo di avere installato ancora le 2.4.2, esearch non me lo listava.
Ora però non mi funziona + audacity e dvdstyler che richiedono le wx 2.4
Cmq dvdstyler non mi serve e lo disinstallo (non ricordavo nemmeno di averlo emerso), mentre x audacity, .... cercerò qualcosa di alternativo che non richieda le wxGTK

sorry.. pensavo che non ti servisse la versione 2.4.2 di wxGTK.. 
comunque puoi avere benissimo tutti e due gli slot installati.. quindi se ti serve la versione 2.4.2-r3 semplicemente reinstallala:
