having some problems getting X to run with nvidia.
i emerged nvidia-kernel and -glx, modified my XF86Config file did 'startx' screen started to come up but i get what looks like a garbled Nvidia splash screen (the nvidia colors are there in vertical lines).
at this point the screen is frozen and no keyboard combo works to unfreeze but ctrl+alt+del.
nv_check says that kernel module is not loaded (/dev/nvidia1?)
is there something i need too look at in my kernel config? or maybe in make.conf? i'm kind of at a loss here _________________ Open-mindedness is painful... |

What worked for me was emerging the nvidia-kernel then the nvidia-glx then editing the XF86Config-4 file then rebooting. |

Either SysV IPC or BSD process style has to be compiled or linux wont be able/or fail to enter init stage when booting. and gentoo uses SysV. _________________ "You know the world is going crazy when the best rapper is a white guy, the best golfer is a black guy, the Swiss hold the America's cup, France accusing the US of arrogance and Germany doesn't want to go to war." |
