Raidcontroller PDC20276

hi guys,

i have a onboard raidcontroller and i am using it as a simple ide controller to connect 2 additional harddrives to my system (there is no bootpartition on both drives).
how do i add support to linux to use those 2 drives?
if i have to build a new kernel, how do i use my old kernel-configuration file which i saved, that i don't have to set everything again? and if there is already kernel support for those drives how would they be labeled?
