|
|
I have a HP ScanJet 3200C (Clone of Umax 1200p/2000p) and have been trying to set up Gentoo for scanning.
Now that I have my system set up with all of the requirements.. PP support, ppdev, chmod 777 on parport0, the newest sane backend, etc, I found a post that says the Umax 1200 has not worked since kernel 2.4.18. I have found no success stories after that.
If the scanner is supported, maybee someone could help me...

hello! i've also got a 3200c and the need has arisen to connect it to my PC (i hardly _ever_ use it) which now runs Gentoo (last time i used it was 9 months ago when i still ran windows).
Going to try to get it to work and will post my findings.
Kind Regards,
Richard |

Ok i tried a bit (ok, a tiny bit) but I was running out of time (the document to be scanned was needed urgently) so I relented I plugged the scanner into my old win98se notebook
it's a pity that sometimes hardware can be so difficult for a newbie to get to work on linux :/
anyways it's all good i got my document scanned in the end
sorry that i couldn't be of more help to the 3200c-on-linux issue though.

Perhaps there is a problem with the sane-backend ebuild. When I emerge it, I do not get the umax_pp program compiled. Prehaps this is a bug and needs a bug report? (btw, the last version I tried was v. 1.0.17 |
